Who Wears Short Shorts?

Dick wears short shorts! Here he is waiting his turn to play tennis in Palm Springs with Beverly Hills resident Sally Clark, daughter of H. T. Clark. The snipe on the back of the photo aludes to a romantic relationship but I never heard of her before.

Where's Dick?

I saw this photo on ebay and I got a big kick out of it. The seller listed it as a Dick Powell item, and it is, but of course, it would be hard to tell if you weren't looking. It seems the Chicago Tribune was more interested in his famous wife at that time.

Dick Powell on TCM in August

There is only one title with a Dick Powell connection set on TCM this month.

August 12 at 4:45 p.m. The Hunters will air. This film was directed by Powell and is set during the Korean War. Dick's love of flying is on full display in the flight sequences and provides a visual distraction from the love story between Robert Mitchem and May Britt.
